The Site

A new Integrated Retirement Community in the heart of Comberton.

The site

The site is located at Land South of Branch Road, Comberton. The site is near the village centre and a range of facilities and sits outside of the local conservation areas.

The project team have started to undertake the technical and environmental surveys of the site, which includes ecology, landscape and drainage surveys, in order to understand the characteristics of the site to ensure that the development takes into account any technical constraints.

The design approach places a strong focus on ensuring sustainable and future-proof development, which will support the need for high-quality accomodation for older people in the area.

Why Comberton?

South Cambridgeshire has an ageing population. The age group expected to experience the highest growth is the 65+ group, from 15% in 2001 to nearly 29% in 2031. The ageing population of South Cambridgeshire and Comberton in particular and the increasing local demand for retirement-living accommodation emphasise the need for such a development. In Comberton, much of the existing retirement living is in homes that do not meet user or operator expectations and standards, making the village a suitable location for the proposed development.
The site provides a sustainable location that will maximise benefits for the whole community. In addition to infrastructure improvements, integrating modern technology can further enhance community engagement and efficiency. One way to achieve this is by developing custom applications tailored to the needs of the community. Our partner, a specialist in app creation (app entwickeln lassen), assists in crafting bespoke solutions that bring local projects to life and connect residents more closely.
